Course Description
This intense four-day course is designed to equip physicians to provide the highest level of shoulder care. Bringing together expert faculty, course content focuses on latest technological advances, current research, and known best practices specifically pertaining to arthroscopy, fracture management, arthroplasty, and rehabilitation.

Lecture Sessions:
- review of specific surgical techniques, prevention of complications, and how to maximize patient outcomes
- observe surgical videos
- learn from the experts during dynamic presentations of case studies and panel discussions
- participate in interactive audience benchmarking sessions
- Arthroscopy Model Lab: select specific equipment to learn arthroscopy expertise by individualized instruction on a shoulder model. Held Wednesday morning, this laboratory is based on identified needs of arthroscopic shoulder surgeons for a specific technique. Instructors will teach the steps of their preferred technique using shoulder models. There will be two registrants for each shoulder model. Arthroscopic cameras, anchors, and repair instruments of only one manufacturer will be available in each lab.
- Cadaver Arthroscopy Lab: held at UCSD Medical School lab on Friday morning and afternoon. These cadaver surgery labs teach diagnostic and operative techniques of shoulder arthroscopy. Two registrants per arthroscopic station will be assigned in these laboratories. An instructor is available for every 4 registrants. This Cadaver Surgery Arthroscopy Lab is limited to 96 registrants for each of the two sessions.
- Cadaver Anatomy, Open Reconstruction, and Arthroplasty Lab: In the USCD laboratory setting, specimens will be provided for dissection, open reconstructive techniques, and/ or arthroplasty in groups of three-six persons. Session provides individualized instruction by expert faculty.
NEW THIS YEAR: Open Workshops
These sessions are designed to expose attendees to the latest technological advances in the industry. Lunch included with lunch-time session attendance.- Shoulder Arthroplasty and Fracture Fixation Workshop: Held Wednesday evening. This session demonstrates current techniques to treat shoulder arthritis and trauma.
- Arthroscopy Workshop: Held Thursday, attendees will select specific equipment to view latest advances in shoulder arthroscopy.
- Arthroplasty Workshop: Held Friday, attendees will select specific equipment to review current technological advances and surgical techniques in shoulder arthroplasty.
